Oh, look, I have a blog! Wow, with all that's been going on, I nearly forgot.
The situation at the school is slowly resolving itself. Turns out that the parent who put choice words in my mouth is not someone I ever remember meeting, and the family left the school a few months back anyway. I had a wonderful chat and a nice cuppa with the person whose child I supposedly objected to, and I think we've put the whole story behind us. She is truly a lovely woman, and if anything positive comes of this, it's that I got to spend some good time with a person I might not otherwise have gotten to talk to very much.
I'm still waiting to hear on the job decision. I was supposed to hear this afternoon, but that didn't happen, because it's always better to keep the suspense over a holiday weekend. That leaves us exactly one day to figure out how this whole thing will work, because next weekend I leave to begin my Waldorf Teacher Training.
On that, I got my schedule. Those folks plum forgot to put sleep on there! I am so hosed, but I cannot wait. Classes every day from 8 am to 6 pm. We'll be doing Eurythmy, chorus, Pentatonic flute, Physics, Chemistry, Fine Arts, Sculpture, Language Arts, Child Development and of course inner development. And then, when I'm not busy (lunch, evenings, weekends) we'll do the Foreign Language Teacher Training. And then I'll sleep for a week. No, that's wrong, I'll be traveling to take the kids to see their great-grandparents, and to finish all the course work before September. That's right.
Oh, and just so you know, we'll have seven mean tigers prowling the premises in my absence, so don't even think about visiting the house. Not that you'd find anything there, because we haven't actually bought anything of value since about 1997, when we were newlyweds. Okay, maybe not the tigers, but Husband will be here as will others. And I so wish I was kidding about owning things of value that are less than 10 years old.
One more thing to report: Heidi has urinary reflux. We did one of those lovely tests last week where she got close and personal with a catheter and decided they definitely weren't going to be friends. She did get to watch a whole movie though, courtesy of the doctor who forgot that she has a wee bit of a heart issue and needs antibiotics any time a medical professional comes near her (time to fill a prescription in a hospital with in-house pharmacy: 40 minutes. Time before the docs think it works: 30 minutes). So Winnie the Pooh, unabridged. For a tv-free child, this is like Christmas. I digress. Heidi had her scan and has about level 3 (out of 5) reflux, which we were told the radiologist didn't know what to do with, given that she has one kidney and half a heart. And of course all the doctors that we need to talk to about follow up are on vacation this week. We do know that urinary reflux in a 5-year old (they are supposed to outgrow this stuff by now) with one kidney will get the docs all excited one way or another, so we're looking at long-term antibiotics, or something more invasive. If anyone knows of natural and noninvasive treatments for this condition, please let me know.
Well, thanks for reading and continuing to come back. I wish I could promise more frequent updates, but what with getting ready and being gone for three weeks of no sleep, I may end up taking most of July off from the blog.
